Choosing the right home can be an interesting process once you begin in earnest.

Start with a list of the top 5 things about your new home that are most important to you.

Some examples:

Specific school district
Amenities (Swim/Tennis/Golf)
Proximity to a freeway
Acreage
Basement
Extra Storage / Bedroom
Fenced Backyard
Proximity to family
Style: ranch, split foyer, 2 story, etc.

Another thing you must decide is how much you can afford.

Home shoppers will often find a home first, then try to figure out how to afford it.
Talk to a loan officer, decide on a price range and try to stay within your limit, so your new home will be a blessing and not a burden.
